§ About the firm

A father-and-son firm, specialized in charitable trust taxation.

Wesely & Wesely is a small CPA firm in Minnetonka, Minnesota - Tom and his son Kyle. Between them, they've spent decades on one specialty: helping people reach their philanthropic goals through smart tax planning, explained in plain English.

01 Why we do this

A few years ago I was at a charity gala, and after a couple glasses of wine, the emcee was asking for donations. My wife and I are lucky to be financially fortunate, so we figured we'd give - but sitting there I realized our check just wasn't going to move the needle much.

So I did some napkin math: I took our clients' rough average net worth, multiplied by how many we serve, and the number that came back started with a "B".

I realized while I couldn't tell people where to give their money, I could build smarter ways to help them do it - and that's a far bigger impact than any check we'd write.

That was the moment it clicked. So we narrowed the firm to what we do best, and what virtually no other CPA firm focuses on: charitable trusts. It's more meaningful work, and in the right situation, the value we can add for both clients and our community is enormous. That's the whole reason we get up for this.
